Election govt soon: PM

Feb 11, Chitwan: Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that the Chief Justice-led election government would be formed soon to hold elections by May 29. “Announcement of the elections will be made by forming a consensus government under the leadership of sitting Chief Justice within few days,” the Prime Minister revealed.
Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai was addressing the concluding ceremony of golden jubilee celebrations of Balkumari Kanya Higher Secondary School, Narayangadh on Monday afternoon. Saying that the major political parties forged a consensus informally to form the election government under the leadership of the sitting CJ, the Prime Minister affirmed that this option was the last one.
The Prime Minister said that the parties claiming themselves as the champions of democracy have obstructed the democratic process of holding the constituent assembly (CA) elections. He also said that the opposition parties were hindering a free and fair election by piling pressure on the President not to endorse the ordinances. “How can the government function if its feet were tied under such condition,” the PM questioned.
Dr Bhattarai said that the UCPN (Maoist) party was consistently raising voices in favor of country’s progressive change even in the adverse situation and the party would remain in favor of country’s positive change. The PM said that economic and political stability should prevail in the country after drafting the constitution through the CA. RSS
